| 04/17/06 | ASI BLENDING TEAM: Mid-America has developed several companion pieces to use with the NIDA Blending Team curriculum. "S.M.A.R.T. Treatment Planning - Utilizing the Addiction Severity Index (ASI): Making Required Data Collection Useful." These are checklists for counselors to use to insure that treatment planning documentation as well as case notes are individualized and comprehensive. If desired the checklists can be laminated to be re-used. These products are available for download on the Mid-America Web site. For more information contact Pat Stilen, 816-482-1168. |

ASI BLENDING TEAM: Provided a National ATTC Training of Trainers focusing on the curriculum, S.M.A.R.T. Treatment Planning—Utilizing the Addiction Severity Index (ASI): Making Required Data Collection Useful. The TOT was hosted by the Mountain West ATTC and held at the Silver Legacy in Reno, Nevada, October 12-13, 2005. The trainers included Deni Carise, Ph.D., Treatment Research Institute; Phil Orrick, Gulf Coast ATTC; Nancy Roget, M.S., Mountain West ATTC; and Pat Stilen, LCSW, CADAC, Mid-America ATTC. A total of 30 participants representing 12 ATTCs attended the 2-day event. The TOT incorporated demonstrations of the DENS ASI and Treatment Planning software developed by Treatment Research Institute and the On-Line Version of the S.M.A.R.T. Treatment Planning curriculum developed by Mountain West ATTC. For more information about the online version, contact Jennifer Norland or Nancy Roget. | 08/22/05 | ASI BLENDING TEAM: Pat Stilen will assist the Southern Coast ATTC in rolling out the S.M.A.R.T Treatment Planning curriculum by providing a S.M.A.R.T Treatment Planning Training of Trainers on August 30, 2005. The individuals who attend this TOT will then have hands on experience by conducting the training, coached by Pat, on the next day August 31, 2005. The training will be held in West Palm Beach, Fla. |

Treatment Planning Utilizing the Addiction Severity Index (ASI): Making Required Data Collection Useful" at the NAADAC Conference held July 7-9 in Corpus Christi, TX. This curriculum seeks to transform required paperwork into clinically useful information. This workshop provided a review of how to use the ASI to integrate clinical processes. Participants received copies of the training curriculum produced as a product of the ASI Blending Team project. |

| 05/02/05 | ASI BLENDING TEAM: Mid-America is collaborating with a Kansas City, MO, Methadone Treatment program to pilot a Mentoring Model as a supplement to the ASI-Based Treatment Planning Curriculum classroom version. With the support and "buy in" from clinical and administrative leadership, 8 counselors have participated in the 6-hour classroom training and will next be receiving one-to-one mentoring to enhance their treatment planning skills. Products developed from this pilot study include a Counselor Treatment Plan that encourages counselors to develop problem statements, goals, objectives, and interventions for the purpose of evaluating and improving their own treatment planning skills; and Self-Evaluation Checklists for both treatment planning and clinical documentation activities. The Mentoring Model will be refined based on feedback from counselors and their leadership and next incorporated with MO COSIG participating treatment agencies. |

Treatment Planning: Utilizing the Addiction Severity Index (ASI) Making Required Data Collection Useful" in Denver, CO May 25, 2005. Co-training this event was Mid-America Director, Pat Stilen, and Mountain West Director, Nancy Roget. Mountain West sponsored 16 of the 27 participants to attend this event. | 04/04/05 | ASI BLENDING TEAM: Mid-America with Mountain West supported a one-day pilot workshop on the NIDA ASI Treatment Planning curriculum package on March 24, 2005. The training took place in Las Vegas, NV. Mid-America sent David McWilliams, National Certified Psychologist with the Missouri Department of Mental Health Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse as a participant. Deni Carise and Megan Love from Treatment Research Institute (TRI) and Pat Stilen with Mid-America, have begun the next phase of ASI Treatment Planning curriculum development. The subsequent product will blend the 6-hour ASI Treatment Planning classroom training with the ASI Treatment Planning Software manual materials. |

| 02/21/05 | BUPRENORPHINE AWARENESS BLENDING TEAM: Sent package to each Regional Center. Materials on three of the package's CDs including the trainers manual, PowerPoint slides, the bibliography, and the Bup brochure are on the iNSiDER. The package includes: a paper copy of the manual, a DVD of the "Put Your Smack Down," a CD of the Central East on-line course, and 3 CD's containing the training, the PowerPoint slides, and the Bibliography. It is the responsibility of the Regional Center to make any copies needed in their region of this material. All materials are designed so that Regional Centers can customize the information to meet the needs in their areas--and add their name, etc. to the training. |

| 05/10/04 | BUPRENORPHINE AWARENESS BLENDING TEAM: Completed the first Blending Initiative package entitles “Buprenorphine Treatment: A Training for Multidisciplinary Addiction Professionals.” The package includes the following materials: (1)Printed copies of: The Training Guide for the 6-hour training and a draft informational brochure about the product. This draft can be customized by individual centers to meet local needs. (2) Two CD Cases each with 2 CD-ROM disks. (a) The clear case contains: the Power Point presentation for the training and the video, “Put Your Smack Down! A Video about Buprenorphine” This video is used during Module VI of the training. (b) The blue case contains: supporting material for the training, a training Guide and a informational brochure and an Annotated Bibliography (Draft) and “Buprenorphine Treatment of Opioid Addiction: A Guide for Counselors,” an online course develop by the CEATTC. These materials have been submitted to Dr. Suman Rao from NIDA and Dr. Karl White from SAMHSA for review and will be sent to Regional Centers and CTN Nodes as soon as final approval is given. |

MOTIVATIONAL INCENTIVES BLENDING TEAM: The PAMI Blending Team submitted its first draft of the Motivational Incentives Awareness Campaign package to NIDA, on May 30, 2006. Final video shoot includes an interview with Duane Mackey, Prairielands ATTC to highlight how this evidence-based practice is culturally sensitive for the Native American treatment provider community. | 11/07/05 | MOTIVATIONAL INCENTIVES BLENDING TEAM: The PAMI (Promoting Awareness of Motivational Incentives) Blending Team presented pilot products to the NIDA CTN at its Quarterly Meeting, Oct 25th. Throughout the presentation questions were asked and the team received feedback about the PowerPoint presentation and overall package design and layout. Z-3 Concepts, a video production company retained by the ATTCs joined the Blending Team to share in the presentation. Z-3 presented the PAMI CD-Rom interface, a sampling of the Fishbowl Technique and taped the day’s presentation to NIDA. Anne-Helene Skinstad facilitated the focus group discussion. The awareness video that will be included in the package has been postponed pending legal consents between all parties. The blending team requested and received an extension in order to continue plans for the video shoot and to incorporate suggestions received from CTN focus group members. Completion of the product is scheduled for early 2006 at which time it will be sent to NIDA for final review and approval. On October 27, 2005, at the request of NIDA the PAMI Blending Team served on a NIDA panel and roundtable discussion at the INCASE conference. Lonnetta Albright, Blending Team Chair; Amy Shanahan (NEATTC); and Candace Peters (Prairielands ATTC) worked alongside Tom Freese and Steve Gallon who presented Blending Team dissemination products and plans for Buprenorphine Detox and Motivational Interviewing. MOTIVATIONAL INCENTIVES BLENDING TEAM: The PAMI (Promoting Awareness of Motivational Incentives) Blending Team has completed its second draft of Blending Team products and will present at the NIDA CTN Steering Committee meeting October 25th. Lonnetta Albright, Great Lakes, and Amy Shanahan, Northeast, will be joined by the team's video production company. The team plans to video tape the focus group to share with the Network as an example for future Blending Team focus group presentations. Amy Shanahan, Northeast, will join Lonnetta Albright, Blending Team chair, at the INCASE conference panel presentation on October 27th. | 09/12/05 | MOTIVATIONAL INCENTIVES BLENDING TEAM: The PAMI (Promoting Awareness of Motivational Incentives) Blending Team has contracted with a video production company to assist in development of dissemination products which include a CD product providing a video, PPT presentation, brochure, articles and other resources. The brief video, considered an important component will demonstrate effective Motivational Incentives in practice. Dr. Scott Kellogg, a Blending Team research consultant introduced the ATTCs to Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC) in Manhattan, NY. This corporation has successfully incorporated the use of Motivational Incentives in clinical practice and has agreed to work with the Blending Team. New York: September 22-23, Videotaping shoot scheduled to begin. Taping to be done by Z-3 Concepts, a video production company retained by the ATTCs and involves HHC patients/clients, staff and facilities chosen by HHC with permission for the ATTCs to videotape and for national dissemination at various conferences, training events, web site posting, etc. The Blending Team ATTCs will edit and implement dissemination strategies following approval by NIDA. Maryland: October 26 the Blending Team will present a 3-hour focus group at the NIDA CTN meeting piloting the dissemination package. Maryland: October 27th, At the request of NIDA, Lonnetta Albright, Blending Team Chair will serve on a NIDA/SAMHSA Blending Team Panel along with Tom Freese and Steve Gallon at the INCASE Conference to discuss Buprenorphine Detox, Motivational Interviewing and Motivational Incentives dissemination products and strategies. | 04/11/05 | MOTIVATIONAL INCENTIVES BLENDING TEAM: Great Lakes held a Blending Team Meeting March 15-16, 2005, in Chicago, IL, to develop a dissemination packet of products/activities as a Motivational Incentives Awareness Campaign that incorporates examples from the MIEDAR (CTN protocol) such as the Fishbowl technology. Products and activities are designed to educate, inform and generate interest in adoption of Motivational Incentives as a science-based approach with proven efficacy for behavioral change. Product - Tentative concepts: 1) Motivational Incentives Awareness Powerpoint Presentation that includes Flash Media technology - audience includes NASADAD, CTN, Policy Makers; 2) Motivational Incentives Brochure; 3) Newsletters; 4) Motivational Incentives Video and "How to Use" the video as a workshop or in-service; 5) Compact Disc and 6) Testimonials from clinicians and/or clients who were part of the CTN study. Testimonials will be used as part of Powerpoint presentations, brochures, videos, etc. Present were ATTC Members Lonnetta Albright (chair) and Joseph D. Rosenfeld (Great Lakes), Anne Helene Skinstad (Prairielands), and Amy Shanahan (Northeast). Also present were Tim Condon and Denise Pintello from NIDA, Roxanne Kibben from Synergy Inc, Dr. Scott Kellogg, Therese Killen and John Hamilton.
