- 3 courses (135
hours) with an emphasis on addictions theory and practice, substance
abuse treatment models and applications, and ethics from a CAADE
accredited College
Note:
Coursework from other academic institutions (i.e. other college
or university classes, CAARR Institute, etc.) may be used to
meet this competency only if the title of the course clearly
states the focus to be substance abuse and covers the above topics.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to submit a course
description, outline, and official transcripts to be considered.

experience documented by facility captain and 8-hour inservice
or orientation on addictions theory and practice (SA 101, 102
A&B will qualify)
- Addictions-specific
experience documented by director of clinical treatment and

- College or university
class with emphasis on substance abuse treatment models and applications
(documentation of attendance and content) -OR-

eligibility for CAADAC, CAADE, or other national or state certification
(California Therapeutic Communities or Therapeutic Communities

class with emphasis on criminology theory (documentation of attendance

- 8-hour inservice
or orientation on criminology theory (Workforce Development Academy
will qualify)
- Continuing education
course on theories of criminology (submit syllabus for approval)
